Many people claim that most of the people get success (whatever “success” means to them) or talent because of god’s gift, luck, their parent’s wealth, support system and favoritism.
Most of us are aware of the reality of corruption, nepotism, favoritism, partiality, abuse of power and all other. In short, we cannot close our eyes to the fact that in many cases they do exist. This article is not about them. This article is in the context of people from all over the world, who are trying and really working hard on their own, using honest means, to become successful.
What is success ?
First, we need to get a clear idea about what success is. Success means different things to each person. For some people success is being wealthy, for some it is to get the job they desire, for some success is to get married, for some it is to become an artist or singer. In short, success is subjective.
For most of the people, success (personally defined) only comes through continuous hard work, sacrifices, guts, courage and commitment to the goal. Most importantly they reach their goal after many ups and downs, treading a road with many obstacles and after many failures. Sometimes, it takes many years to reach that point that changed people’s life.
Success is an iceberg where other people just see the visible part of success and do not even want to see the invisible part of the iceberg which shows what really happened, eventually leading to success. The invisible part of the iceberg hides the many failures, doubts, the hard work they put it, the risks they faced, the courage it took, and the actions and tenacity (the never-give up attitude) and so many more. Simply put, the person did not give up and kept on trying till reached their goal.
Talking about Talent, It is crystal clear that the road to perfection in any talent, is discipline and continuous practice and not just good luck. For example, a singer is putting lots of hard work into his or her skill, practicing every day and leading a disciplined life.
Many people, who do not understand this simple fact, will say: “OMG, you sing so well. You are lucky. How do you do that?”, calling it luck, gift, talent or some other things. They will only see and envy the visible part of the iceberg of success; they will remain oblivious and unaware and lazy to see the invisible biggest part of the iceberg.
The worst thing some people do is putting a tag of “lucky dudes” on the people who worked hard for everything. If people cannot understand or do not want to see the efforts and hard work that was required to achieve success, at-least, what they can do is, be mature enough and stop to “lucky dude” them…!!
I came to know, by understanding people and life, that if anybody will really try to get what they want, using a logical structured plan, with honesty and a continuous approach, either they will get what they wanted, or will get the experience and “lessons learned” from trying. If none of the two, they may discover something else which was meant to be for them.
